SS-47 is the Oyaide original high-fidelity solder.
Easy to use, SS-47 delivers consistent and outstanding results. Oyaide produced this solder in order to maximize the current carrying capacity of their cables and connectors by eliminating sound character. After careful consideration of the importance of the contact and joining area, Oyaide achieved a high-fidelity audio-specialized solder with outstanding characteristics and specs.
The Oyaide factory continues their commitment to quality by always selecting the best materials for their products. Their SS-47 high-grade solder is no exception. Most solder for the audio market contains Tin at 99.9% purity (aka 3N) , but SS-47 goes way further using 4N (99.993%) pure Tin. This is achieved by refining the tin to the maximum extent possible. Furthermore, the active elements of 4.7% Silver and 1.7% Copper deliver excellent conductivity and durability.
By adding a flux core to the mix, Oyaide is able to minimize corrosion of the surface for a more pure work space. Residual chlorine is minimized to a vanishingly small <0.12%. Another feature, the special flux material in SS-47 has an 83% faster-spreading ratio, making it a breeze to work with!
